Britney Spears - "Break The Ice"
Directed by Robert Hales (who also directed Nine Inch Nails and Gnarls Barkley videos), this homage to cyberpunk anime hits all the right buttons from the start. A futuristic skyline, a hot blond jumping of a building, clone tanks, shock soldiers, and a computer virus transferred by a kiss. Sure, you can argue it doesn't bring anything new to the genre, but give it props for doing a pop video without any horrible dance sequences, and for exposing a brand new bubble-gum pop audience to the joys of cyberpunk.
Stellar work. Just, I dunno...pretend Britney is a cyborg programmed to be a skank, if it makes you feel better about it.
