Toronto Fan Appreciation Event Recap
“What the frak are those?!” This was the most asked question at the Cyberpunkcomics.com booth as fans and onlookers admired the metal glowing contraption strapped to John Paul Rishea’s back.
Mr. Rishea, an unassuming and friendly twenty-something, was the last person you would suspect of creating diabolical robotic devices, but he can be found most often in his workshop, where he devises nefarious weapons and mechanical body modifications. While at the Comicon he happily strapped volunteers into one of his creations and with the flick of a switch the metal pieces unfolded into a wide pair of glowing metal wings.
Booth babe Beth made an appearance, helping set up the booth and then disappearing mysteriously.
Greg Dunford, the writer of Hard Drive, spent most of the weekend at the Cyberpunkcomics.com booth, giving away trade secrets about the state of independent comics and dropping plot hints about Hard Drive. He also ranted about the Battlestar Galactica series finale and drooled over the upcoming Inception and Tron 2 movies.
Those who picked up the first and second issue of Hard Drive were lucky enough to have the deranged talent of Alex Milne, Gibson Quarter, Marvin Law and Vince Sunico on hand to sign their pinup art contained within.
Hard Drive artist Renzo Podesta was there in spirit. Renzo is slaving over the next issue of Hard Drive, which is almost ready to debut!
Thanks to all those who came out and continue to support Cyberpunkcomics.com! Make sure to post your fan pics on the Cyberpunkcomics Facebook fan page!
